Unscripted Talks About (Mostly) Photography

Ep. 019: Desperately Seeking Skylines And Long Lenses

This week’s episode is brought to you by the letter ‘B’ and several references to France.

This episode is off to an alphabetical start. Spencer extolls the virtues of Vitamin D and Scott asks what happened to the ‘B’ battery…. and Spencer thinks way too hard about that. Spencer shares his quest for views of San Diego downtown that are apart of the typical vantages we see often. His search led Photographers In Cars to the Kate Sessions Park in La Jolla.

The guys talk about long lenses, and the new 100-400mm Spender is touting around. Scott’s longest lens is the 70-200mm, which he admits stays in the bag more often than not. They also talk about the shooting situations that call for the extra reach.

Scott talks about an experiment he has planned for using Lume Cubes and remote light painting. The guys circle back to the skyline discussion and Scott points out a unique factor is the weather. Especially in a town like San Diego where the weather is very predictable, a photo with a unique sky or unusual weather can make a photo stand out.
