Ep. 020: Protecting Your Gear In Windy Conditions

The Big Bad Wolf had nothing on the Southern California winds in mid February.

Southern California had a few days of high winds in mid-February 2018. High winds can make for some interesting weather and therefore unique shooting experiences. However, you do need to take steps to protect your equipment.

Both Scott and Spencer were photographing in the desert areas during these high winds. Spencer was out in the sand dunes and had some drone plans that were dashed. Scott was hosting a workshop in Death Valley and has an excellent tip for tripod positioning in high winds.

And although San Diego doesn’t get rain often, both Spencer and Scott have taken pictures in rainy conditions. They share a few thoughts about wet conditions, too. The guys share a bunch of their experiences for shooting in harsh conditions. Protecting your lenses, protecting your camera bodies, and protecting yourself!

The show finishes up with a few other horror stories and some tips on how not to leave that critical piece of equipment behind.
