Unscripted Talks About (Mostly) Photography

Ep. 027: The Dunning-Kruger Photographer

Where do you think you are on the Dunning-Kruger graph?

The Dunning-Kruger effect describes a spectrum of experience in a field, from those with just a little knowledge to those considered experts in a field. The interesting thing - the “effect” is those that know little about a subject often profess to be authorities and cannot see beyond their own inexperience. Conversely, experts in a field are more aware of their gaps in knowledge, and may believe their skill level is sub-par.

Spencer and Scott talk about the Dunning-Kruger effect and how it applies to photography. The guys offer up several tips to help yourself get over the Dunning-Kruger hump, and continue on a path of never-ending photography learning.
